Outside of work, Isha Ambani is a sports enthusiast, and played for her university’s soccer team. In addition to being a trained pianist, she is also interested in arts, business and economy, and international matters.

Isha Ambani’s Education and Career:

Isha exemplifies India’s billionaire heiresses; they study at the best universities, work at reputed companies, and come armed with skills and enthusiasm to get assimilated into the family business.

True to form, she completed her final year of the International Baccalaureate program in 2008 and received an undergraduate degree in Psychology and South Asian Studies from Yale University in 2014. Thereafter, she did a short stint as a business analyst with the management consulting firm, McKinsey & Company.

Both Isha and her twin, Akash, are touted as the future of RIL. Both were inducted into the Board of Directors of Reliance Jio Infocomm and Reliance Retail Ventures in 2015. In December that year, they led the employee launch of Jio’s 4G services in the presence of brand ambassador and Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan. The twins were also instrumental in introducing an open-office culture for top executives at the Reliance Corporate Park.

More About Isha Ambani and AJIO:

Critics did say that Isha’s induction into Reliance was premature. However, within a year, her performance silenced them.

In April 2016, Isha launched AJIO at the Lakme Fashion Week. AJIO is an online fashion retail brand that will be rolled out pan-India under Reliance Retail. It will offer a wide selection across categories from lingerie to jewelry for women, and plans to expand its product offering to cater to men and children soon.

About 60% of AJIO’s merchandise is unique, and is available exclusively on its portal. Besides, it has tied up with about 200 national and international brands chiefly offering daily wear and affordable fashion. AJIO has also collaborated with various third-party logistics partners for product delivery.

The initiative will leverage the large network of Reliance Retail Stores and Reliance Jio’s telecom network to provide a superior shopping experience to customers.

Currently, Isha Ambani oversees the branding and management of AJIO.

Isha Ambani hails from an illustrious business family.

Her grandparents are the late Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Ambani. The former was an Indian business tycoon and co-founder of Reliance Industries, which he took public in 1977. He featured in the Sunday Times Top 50 Businessmen in Asia and was honored post-humously with the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honor, for his contribution to the fields of trade and industry.

Isha’s father, Mukesh Dhirubhai Ambani, is an Indian business magnate. He is the Chairman, Managing Director and largest shareholder of Reliance Industries Limited (RIL). RIL features in the Fortune Global 500 and is India’s second most valuable company by market value.

Mukesh Ambani has held the title of India’s richest person on the Forbes list for ten years. In 2012, he was also named one of the richest sports owners in the world. China’s Hurun Research Institute ranked him fifth amongst India’s philanthropists in 2015.
